-Challenge Refused

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for every one who believes.” Romans 1:16

A famous agnostic named Arthur Morrow Lewis once challenged Dr. H. A. Ironside to debate the topic of agnosticism versus Christianity. Dr. Ironside’s reply went something like this: “I’m inclined to accept your challenge, if you really mean it. But to prove that you have something worth debating, I accept on one condition: that you promise to bring to the debate at least one person who was once a slave to sinful habits and a burden to himself and his loved ones, but who heard a lecture on agnosticism and gave up his life of sin, became a new person, and is today a respected member of society – all because of a message on unbelief.

“If you agree to this condition, I promise to bring with me one hundred men and women who were once just such lost souls, but who heard the gospel of the grace of God, believed it and found new life and joy in Jesus Christ, the Savior whom you deny. Will you accept my terms?”

Lewis, the agnostic shook his head, turned away and gave up any idea of a debate. While there is no power in unbelief, every generation since the cross of Calvary has witnessed the power of the blood of Jesus Christ to cleanse from all sin, and change the lives of those who trust Him.

The question right now is, where are you, dear reader? If you are you stuck in the powerlessness of unbelief, contact us! We can help you experience that everlasting power.
