The End Times
(by Brad Letney)
What Can We Expect?
Comes from the Greek word Apokalypsis, which translates to “an unveiling”
- Great Tribulation
1. Beginning of Sorrows
People Deceived by False Prophets
Matt 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Countries at war with each other, and talks about going to war
Matt 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Diverse conditions of weather
Just in the past ten years how many times have we seen destruction from earthquakes, tsunamis, the past hurricane season ( the power of Katrina and Rita), can you remember the last time these places have seen such weather?
Plagues and Starvation
Plagues have started to overtake our societies, from the HIV virus to new forms of cancer.
Starvation and shortage of food has become an ever increasing issue n the past few years, just think of those in Ethiopia, Asia, and right here in America.
Matt 24:7-8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
All these are the beginning of sorrows.
2. Tribulation of Christians
We will be mocked, persecuted, laughed at, and even killed; however, many Christians will refuse to die for His name’s sake.
Matt 24:9 Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake
Look at the world around you today, hasn’t God been censored in several ways of life? We are no longer allowed to talk about God in schools, also in 2000 a U.S. Senator proposed to remove the phrase “In God We Trust” from all U.S. currency and remove “One Nation under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance. This should be our wake up call, that the time is drawing near.
3. Hatred and Deception
Over the past few years we have seen several religious leaders fall into disgrace in the eyes of God and man, and have had followers. The word of God has also been twisted and distorted in order to adapt to the destructive morals and secular behavior of these times.
- Antichrist Appears
Matt 24: 15-19 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
The desecrations will not end yet, even after the churches have grow through the persecutions. Just what the abomination is isn’t described; however, it will be a desecration and sacriledge enormous enough to bring about the wrath of God
Despite what you have heard about the world ending in a nuclear holocaust with total destruction, you can be at peace knowing that this will not happen for the word of God assures us that only the wicked opposers of God shall be destroyed by forces under His control:
Psalms 37: 9-10 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
Psalms 145:20 The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.
A great crowd of humans from all nations will survive this
- The Final Hour
Matt 24: 20-29 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.Behold, I have told you before.Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Jesus told his followers that whenever the church is nearing its fulfillment on earth that there would be physical and visible signs that the final days are at hand
When Will It Happen?
No one knows, even Jesus does not know the exact time the end will come to pass: Matt 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
What Can We Do To Prepare For It?
- The Saved
1. Follow the Scriptures
Rev. 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
Rev. 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
2. Rejoice in the Lord
Always praise God in everything that you do.
Ps. 32:11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
Ps 98:4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
