Timothy was an unusual young man, whom the seasoned apostle Paul declared to be on equal ground with him in working the work of the Lord. Why might Timothy fear if he went to Corinth? Perhaps many thought his age rendered his testimony insignificant, and would not accept his words as from God. There have been others who at a young age sought whole-heartedly the things of the Lord. Just their presence put many to shame or aroused jealousies. Joseph, Samuel, David, and Josiah are a few such examples.
Young people who are determined to follow the Lord can be very effective for God and should have full support from others, especially the eldership. Let’s encourage the youth among us not to fear those who are older, but not necessarily wiser.

|Through the desert, waste and cheerless,
Though our destined journey lie,
Rendered by Thy presence fearless,
We may every foe defy:
Naught shall move us, Naught shall move us
While we see Thee, Savior, nigh.
