Ano Ang Akala Ninyo Tungkol Kay Cristo? Kanino Bagang Anak Siya?

Matthew  22:41-45; 24:3-5

  1. Introduction.
  1. Despite the volumes and volumes of Bibles and commentaries and records written about Jesus, Jesus is still a mystery to many people. They still do not know who Jesus is and why He was here on planet earth.
  2. There is a question posed by the Lord Jesus to the Pharisees and the scribes, to His enemies who would not believe in Him and His deity and His Messiahship, “What think ye of Christ? Whose son is He?” Though this soul-searching question was posed long ago, the same question is being posed to us by Jesus. From this question there is no escape. Justice demands an answer from each of us. “What you sincerely think in your heart about Jesus Christ will determine what you are, and will largely determine what your acts will be, and where will you end up in eternity – in the new heavens and new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness or in the lake of fire and brimstone which is the second death and where there is torment day and night and forever and ever.” The crucial question every human being must face is the one Jesus asked the Pharisees, “What think ye of Christ?” One of our missions in life is to know Jesus Christ. Paul said, “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death that if possible, I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” (Philippians 3:10-11).
  3. False Christs. (Matthew 24:3-5).
  3. May iba pang patibong.
Ito ay ipinapahayag sa Isaiah 9:6-7 na, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David.” His title Son of David involves within itself the restoration of the people of Israel to their land and the restoration of the kingdom of God wherein the son of David is reigning in that eternal kingdom when the Father spoke to the Son, “Thy throne O God, is forever and ever.”
Ito ay nagpapatunay na iyong Yahweh na Siyang Messias na paparito to restore the kingdom of David will come through the human line of David which means that God the Savior will become incarnate.
  4. Millenial Kingdom and Daniel 2:44-45. Not too long ago in the history of the world, Israel was restored as a nation but the kingdom of God in Israel still has to be restored. A time is coming when the kingdom of God shall be restored in the Millenium or during the 1,000 years visible and personal reign of the Lord Jesus Christ over the universe from the city of Jerusalem, the golden Age of man when the Son of man, the son of David, the second man, the Lord from heaven shall be reigning. This is the kingdom in Daniel chapter 2 that shall be set up by the God of heaven to replace all man-made and man-ruled kingdoms and systems of government and that kingdom shall never be destroyed, shall not be left to other people but it shall break into pieces the iron, the brass, the clay the silver, the gold and consume all the kingdoms and shall stand forever.
Iyong unang pagdating ng Panginoong Jesucristo ay bilang “the suffering Messiah” at iyong pangalawa ay “the glory that should follow” (1 Peter 1:11) na siya ring tinutukoy na “the glorious appearing of the great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” (Titus 2:13-14)
  2. Jesus’ true identity is so important. Why does it matter whether or not Jesus is God? Why is it important that He should come in the flesh?
  1. If He is not God, He has no capacity to assume our sins and pay the death of a sinless sacrifice. (1 John 4:14,  “…the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.”; 1 John 2:2, “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”) Jesus bore our humanity but without sin. He had to be man so He could die. (2 Corinthians 5:21, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin…”; 1 Peter 3:18, “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust…”; Hebrews 4:15 “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”) Jesus took this unique position  to be the only salvation of the world that is why only through Jesus can salvation be made available through faith in Jesus Christ.)

  1. Savior. He shall save His people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21). For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11). The people of Israel have had many human saviors to deliver them from their enemies. But this Savior that is promised in Isaiah 9:6-7 will give the title Savior a new and eternal meaning, “for He shall save His people from their sins.”
  1. This title Savior tells of Jesus’ purpose for coming into this world. Jesus spoke about the purpose of His coming in several places, “I have come…” Example John 6:38  “For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” John 12:47  “…for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.” Matthew 9:13 ; Mark 2:17; Luke 5:32 “…for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 19:10,  “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
  2. It is here that the Jews during the time of Jesus on earth and so with many of us, misunderstood the purpose of the first coming of Jesus. The Jews wanted a savior who would deliver them from Roman rule. Before we criticize them, we are not different from them. Many of us want to be delivered from our financial troubles, from marital problems, from family problems, from our problems in our jobs, delivered from drug addiction and alcohol and smoking and from meaningless lives.
  3. If this world needed to be saved from financial bankruptcy, God the Father would have sent His Son as a banker or as an economist. (Wars-a statesman; Food-agronomist or agriculturist; Education-educator; Justice-Brilliant Lawyer; Health-Medical practitioner) But, instead, the Bible says the Lord came as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He came to save you and me from your sins and my sins. Many messages from the pulpit give a message on how to have a successful job, having a happy family, how to live happily, how to influence others. Many of the preachings you hear today deal with “how to be saved from your problems.” QUESTION: How would you feel if Jesus placed in your account 100M dollars each day or gave you the most beautiful face and body but shuts you out of heaven? But this is not the gospel at all. Ang summary ng gospel ay “whosoever believes in, hopes on and sincerely loves the Lord Jesus Christ shall not perish but have everlasting life.” Jesus did not come to save us from our problems. He came to save us from our sins. If you are not saved from your sins, you will never be saved from your problems. However, when you are saved from your sins, all the other things begin to flow out of that. (Matthew 6:33)
  1. Prepare to meet thy God. (Amos 4:12) Have you prepared your heart to meet with Jesus? Meet Him in friendly terms not in unfriendly terms. “It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. (Hebrews 10:31
  2. Being ready is not looking what the world is coming to. Being ready is looking who is coming to the world. We are not looking for earthquakes and wars and rumors of wars and famine and pestilence. We are looking for Jesus, we are “looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearance of of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.” (Titus. 2:13-14). One sure hope of the world is the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our faith looks backward to a Crucified Savior, we look upward to a Glorified Savior and we look forward to a Coming Savior that we may reign with Him not only for a thousand years but unto eternity. Be ready, for in such an hour that you think not, He’s coming. Alin man ang mauna, rapture o hukay, walang problema dahil “we are always all for Jesus.”
  3. Who is Jesus to you? You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman. You can shut Him up for a fool or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. You can either crown Him or crucify Him; confess or deny; accept or reject. But you cannot ignore Him, for he who is not with Jesus is against Him. And he who does not gather with the Lord Jesus) scatters abroad.” (Matthew 12:30). But we who are with Him are called, and chosen and faithful (Revelation 17:14).
